About Chiro Ottawa

More Than a Decade of Trusted Care in the Nation's Capital

Chiro Ottawa was founded on a simple principle: Ottawa residents deserve chiropractic care that is rigorous, personalized, and genuinely focused on long-term wellness rather than quick fixes.

For over a decade, our clinic has served thousands of patients across Ottawa and the surrounding region, from downtown office workers battling desk-bound neck strain to Carleton and uOttawa students carrying heavy backpacks, from young parents coping with the physical demands of childcare to seniors in Alta Vista looking to maintain their independence and mobility.

Our founding chiropractor is a graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto — Canada's leading chiropractic institution — and is a member in good standing with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario (CCO), the Ontario Chiropractic Association (OCA), and the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA). Our associate chiropractors bring additional post-graduate certifications in Active Release Techniques (ART), Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, Webster Technique for prenatal care, Graston Technique instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and sport-specific rehabilitation.

What sets Chiro Ottawa apart isn't just our credentials — it's our integrated, patient-first philosophy. We combine traditional manual adjustments with modern diagnostic imaging, soft tissue therapy, corrective exercise prescription, ergonomic consulting, and clear education so that you understand exactly what's happening in your body and what you can do at home between visits. We believe an informed patient is a healthier patient, and that belief guides every appointment we conduct.

We are fully licensed, fully insured, and carry professional liability coverage through the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association (CCPA). Our clinic facility is wheelchair accessible, bilingual (English and French), and equipped with modern adjustment tables, low-level laser therapy units, spinal decompression equipment, and dedicated rehabilitation space. We invest continuously in continuing education because the science of spinal health keeps evolving — and so do we.

Why Choose Us

Why Ottawa Residents Choose Chiro Ottawa

Choosing a chiropractor is a significant decision. You're trusting someone with your spine and nervous system. Here's why thousands of patients across Ottawa, Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans, and Nepean have chosen us.

Licensed, Experienced & Accountable

Every chiropractor holds a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from an accredited institution, is registered with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, and is bound by the strict professional standards of the Regulated Health Professions Act. We are a regulated healthcare practice subject to the same accountability as any other primary healthcare profession in Ontario.

Evidence-Based, Not Ideology-Based

Modern chiropractic care is supported by clinical research, uses objective assessment tools, and integrates seamlessly with medical care, physiotherapy, and massage therapy. Our treatment recommendations are grounded in current peer-reviewed literature and clinical practice guidelines from organizations like the Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Every patient receives a comprehensive health history review, a hands-on physical examination, orthopaedic and neurological testing where appropriate, and a clearly explained treatment plan. We do not sell pre-packaged care plans or require long-term contracts. You pay per visit, and you stay in care only as long as you're seeing the results you want.

Direct Billing & Transparent Pricing

We offer direct billing to most major Canadian extended health insurance providers including Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield Canada, Desjardins, Blue Cross, Equitable Life, and the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP), which is especially relevant for Ottawa's large federal public service community. You'll never be surprised by a hidden fee.

Convenient Location & Hours

Our clinic is located in Ottawa with free on-site parking, step-free access, and easy OC Transpo connections. We offer early-morning appointments for downtown commuters and evening hours for families balancing work and school schedules. Saturday appointments are available by request.

Bilingual Service — English & French

As one of the only officially bilingual capitals in the world, Ottawa deserves healthcare that reflects its linguistic reality. Our team provides care in both English and French, and we welcome patients from the Gatineau side of the river who prefer to receive services en français.

Chiropractic Services Offered at Chiro Ottawa

A comprehensive range of chiropractic and complementary services — from acute injury rehabilitation to long-term wellness maintenance. All fees are in Canadian dollars and subject to HST where applicable.

Comprehensive chiropractic consultation and assessment
SERVICE 01

Initial Consultation & Comprehensive Assessment

Your first visit is the foundation of everything that follows. During this 45- to 60-minute appointment, your chiropractor will take a detailed health history, discuss your current symptoms and goals, perform a full postural and biomechanical assessment, conduct orthopaedic and neurological testing, and — if clinically warranted — order or refer you for diagnostic imaging. You'll leave with a clear diagnosis, a customized treatment plan, and an understanding of what to expect going forward.

$95 – $14045–60 minute initial visit
Spinal adjustment and vertebral manipulation
SERVICE 02

Chiropractic Adjustments & Spinal Manipulation

The core of chiropractic practice. Our clinicians use a variety of adjustment techniques including Diversified, Thompson Drop-Table, Activator Instrument, Gonstead, and Cox Flexion-Distraction depending on your body type, comfort level, and clinical presentation. Whether you prefer the satisfying relief of a manual adjustment or the ultra-gentle precision of instrument-assisted care, we'll match the technique to your needs.

$55 – $85Per visit
Soft tissue therapy and Active Release Techniques
SERVICE 03

Soft Tissue Therapy & Active Release Techniques (ART)

Joint dysfunction rarely exists in isolation. Tight muscles, adhesions, and fascial restrictions often need to be addressed alongside spinal adjustments for lasting results. Our ART-certified providers use specific hands-on protocols to release muscle adhesions, break up scar tissue, and restore normal glide between muscle, nerve, and fascial layers.

Included or $20 add-onCombined with adjustment
Contemporary medical acupuncture treatment
SERVICE 04

Contemporary Medical Acupuncture

Performed by chiropractors with certification through McMaster University's Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program, this evidence-informed approach uses fine, sterile needles to reduce pain, decrease muscle tension, and improve neurological function. It pairs especially well with chiropractic adjustments for chronic pain, headaches, and sports injuries.

$40 – $65Per session
Spinal decompression therapy table
SERVICE 05

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Non-surgical spinal decompression uses a specialized motorized table to gently stretch the spine, creating negative pressure within the intervertebral discs. This can help relieve pressure on compressed nerves and is often recommended for patients dealing with disc herniations, sciatica, or chronic low back pain unresponsive to other treatments.

$60 – $95Per session
Low-level laser therapy for tissue healing
SERVICE 06

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

Also known as cold laser therapy, this modality uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and accelerate soft tissue healing. It's especially useful for tendinopathies, joint sprains, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

$25 – $45Per session
Custom orthotic foot assessment and fitting
SERVICE 07

Custom Orthotics

Poor foot mechanics can create problems throughout the kinetic chain — from plantar fasciitis and knee pain to hip discomfort and chronic low back pain. We use a gait scan analysis system to design custom orthotics manufactured in Canada, with a two-year workmanship warranty.

$395 – $525Often covered by extended health plans
Prenatal chiropractic care with Webster Technique
SERVICE 08

Prenatal & Webster Technique Care

Pregnancy places unique demands on the spine and pelvis. Our Webster-certified chiropractors provide gentle, safe care throughout pregnancy using specialized pregnancy pillows and modified techniques to reduce low back pain, sciatica, pelvic girdle pain, and to optimize pelvic alignment for delivery.

$60 – $90Per visit
Gentle pediatric chiropractic for children
SERVICE 09

Pediatric Chiropractic

Children can benefit from chiropractic care too, though the techniques used are dramatically different from adult care. We use ultra-gentle, finger-tip pressure and instrument-assisted approaches appropriate for infants, toddlers, and growing children. Common reasons parents bring kids in include colic, latching difficulties, torticollis, posture concerns, and sports-related injuries.

$45 – $70Per visit
Sports chiropractic and athletic rehabilitation
SERVICE 10

Sports Chiropractic & Rehabilitation

Whether you're training for the Ottawa Race Weekend, playing beer-league hockey in Nepean, skiing at Camp Fortune, or competing at the varsity level at Carleton or uOttawa, our sports chiropractors understand the demands of athletic performance and the urgency of getting back on the field. We offer return-to-sport testing, performance optimization, and injury prevention programming.

Common Conditions

Problems We Help Ottawa Residents Solve

Chiropractors are primary-contact healthcare providers trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of neuromusculoskeletal conditions — many respond remarkably well to conservative care when caught early.

Lower Back Pain

The single most common reason adults visit a chiropractor, affecting roughly 80% of people at some point. Whether your pain stems from shovelling heavy Ottawa snow, lifting a toddler, or hours at a Parliament Hill desk, our assessment identifies whether your pain is mechanical or referred, and our protocols draw on the latest clinical guidelines.

Neck Pain & Cervicogenic Headaches

Hours looking down at phones, laptops on kitchen tables, and long commutes into downtown Ottawa contribute to 'tech neck' — upper cervical stiffness, shoulder tension, and headaches radiating from the base of the skull. Adjustments combined with soft tissue work, postural retraining, and specific exercises bring lasting relief.

Sciatica & Radiating Leg Pain

Sharp, burning, or electric pain radiating from the low back through the buttock and leg — usually caused by disc herniation, spinal stenosis, or piriformis syndrome. Treatment may include spinal decompression, targeted adjustments, nerve glides, and rehabilitation exercises.

Whiplash & MVA Injuries

Ottawa's winter roads and busy 417 corridor produce their share of collisions. Chiropractic care is a recognized and insurable treatment under SABS in Ontario. We handle MVA billing directly, complete required forms, and coordinate with your insurer.

Sports Injuries & Overuse

From hockey hip flexor strains to hamstring pulls at the Ottawa Race Weekend, we help athletes recover quickly and return to sport stronger. We use functional movement screening and sport-specific rehabilitation to reduce re-injury risk.

Postural Dysfunction & Workplace Strain

Ottawa has one of Canada's highest concentrations of desk-based workers. Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, and chronic thoracic stiffness are epidemic. We offer ergonomic consultation, postural correction protocols, and exercise prescription.

Pregnancy-Related Pain

Pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, round ligament discomfort, and rib flaring are common throughout pregnancy. After delivery, new parents often develop wrist/thumb pain from holding babies. Our prenatal and postnatal protocols are safe, gentle, and highly effective.

What to Expect as a New Patient

We know visiting a chiropractor for the first time can feel intimidating. Here is exactly what you can expect at Chiro Ottawa — no surprises, no pressure.

01

Online Booking & Intake

Book in under a minute online or call us directly. You'll receive a digital intake form to complete before arriving, saving time and letting your chiropractor prepare for your visit.

02

Consultation & Health History

Your chiropractor reviews your health history in detail, understands your symptoms, identifies what activities are affected, and clarifies your goals — whether it's sleeping through the night, running a 10K, or just sitting through a workday without pain.

03

Physical Examination

Postural analysis, range of motion testing, orthopaedic and neurological examinations, palpation, and functional movement screening. Imaging is only ordered when it will meaningfully change your treatment plan.

04

Diagnosis & Treatment Plan

Your chiropractor explains exactly what they found, gives you a working diagnosis, and walks you through recommended options — including when to consider medical referral. Honest answers about timelines and expectations.

05

Your First Treatment

If you're comfortable proceeding, treatment typically happens at the same visit. This may include an adjustment, soft tissue therapy, laser therapy, or a combination. We start conservatively and always check in about comfort.

06

Home Care & Ongoing Progress

Before you leave, you receive specific exercises, stretches, ergonomic tips, and activity modifications. We reassess every 6–12 visits, adjust your plan based on results, and transition to wellness care only when you choose. No pressure, no contracts.

Ottawa Local Guide

Why Chiropractic Matters in the National Capital Region

Ottawa is a unique city, and that uniqueness shapes the kind of chiropractic care its residents need.

The Ottawa Winter & Your Spine

Ottawa winters are legendary. With average annual snowfall of over 220 centimetres and temperatures that regularly dip below -20°C, Ottawa residents spend far more hours shovelling, scraping, and navigating icy sidewalks than Canadians in milder climates. Every January and February, chiropractic clinics see a spike in acute low back injuries from snow shovelling, slip-and-fall injuries from icy driveways, and shoulder strains from windshield scraping. If you live in Ottawa, learning proper shovelling mechanics and pre-season conditioning is not optional — it's essential.

The Federal Public Service & Sedentary Work

With more than 130,000 federal public servants working in the National Capital Region, Ottawa has one of the highest concentrations of desk-based workers in Canada. Add in the technology sector in Kanata — home to companies like Shopify, QNX, Ciena, and countless startups — and you have a workforce that sits for 8-plus hours a day. The biomechanical consequences are predictable: forward head posture, upper crossed syndrome, lumbar disc loading, hip flexor shortening, and gluteal inhibition. Our ergonomic assessments and corrective exercise protocols are specifically designed for this reality.

The Active Ottawa Lifestyle

Despite the desk jobs, Ottawans are remarkably active. The NCC recreational pathways attract cyclists, runners, and rollerbladers from April through October. Winter brings cross-country skiing at Gatineau Park, downhill skiing at Camp Fortune and Mont Cascades, skating on the Rideau Canal Skateway (the world's largest naturally frozen skating rink), and pond hockey in neighbourhood rinks. Summer brings sailing on Mooney's Bay, hiking in the Greenbelt, and paddling the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers. All of this activity is wonderful — and it produces its share of overuse injuries and acute sprains that respond beautifully to chiropractic care.

Bilingualism & Healthcare Access

Ottawa is officially bilingual, and many residents prefer — or require — healthcare services in French. Our bilingual team is proud to offer care in both official languages, and we welcome patients from across the river in Gatineau, Aylmer, Hull, and Chelsea who find the crossing worthwhile.

Ontario Regulation & Chiropractic

In Ontario, chiropractic is a regulated health profession governed by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario under the Regulated Health Professions Act. Every practising chiropractor must hold a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an accredited institution, pass national and provincial licensing examinations, carry professional liability insurance, and complete ongoing continuing education. Patients are protected by the same complaint and quality assurance mechanisms that apply to physicians, nurses, and other regulated professionals.

Insurance Coverage in Ontario

OHIP no longer covers chiropractic care for most adults, but the vast majority of private extended health plans do — typically providing $300 to $1,500 per year in chiropractic coverage per family member. For federal public servants, the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) offers particularly strong coverage. Workers injured on the job may be eligible through WSIB, and motor vehicle accident victims are covered under SABS. We handle all the paperwork.

Frequently Asked

Chiropractic Care in Ottawa — FAQ

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes. Chiropractic adjustments performed by a licensed chiropractor have an excellent safety record, backed by decades of clinical research. Minor temporary soreness after the first visit — similar to post-exercise soreness — is the most common side effect and typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours. Serious adverse events are extremely rare.

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a chiropractor in Ontario?

No. Chiropractors are primary-contact healthcare providers in Ontario, which means you can book directly without a physician's referral. However, some extended health insurance plans require a doctor's referral for reimbursement, so it's worth checking your specific policy.

Will my extended health plan cover chiropractic care?

Most Canadian extended health plans cover chiropractic care, typically offering between $300 and $1,500 per person per year. This includes plans from Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Desjardins, Blue Cross, and the federal Public Service Health Care Plan. We offer direct billing to most major insurers.

How many visits will I need?

It depends entirely on your condition, how long you've had it, and your goals. Acute issues often resolve in 4 to 8 visits, while chronic or complex conditions may take longer. We reassess every 6 to 12 visits and adjust your plan based on results. We never lock patients into long-term visit packages.

Does chiropractic treatment hurt?

Most patients find adjustments comfortable and even relaxing. The audible 'pop' sometimes heard during an adjustment is simply gas releasing from the joint — it's not painful. If you're nervous, we can use gentle instrument-assisted techniques that require no manual thrust at all.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes, when performed by a trained provider using pregnancy-specific techniques like the Webster Technique. We use specialized pregnancy pillows and modified approaches that are safe and comfortable through all three trimesters.

Can children and babies receive chiropractic care?

Yes. Pediatric chiropractic uses ultra-gentle, finger-tip pressure and is safe for infants, toddlers, and older children. Common reasons parents seek care include colic, torticollis, latching issues, posture concerns, and sports injuries.

How is chiropractic different from physiotherapy or massage therapy?

Chiropractors focus on diagnosis and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, with a particular emphasis on spinal and joint manipulation. Physiotherapists emphasize exercise-based rehabilitation and modalities. Massage therapists focus on soft tissue work. These professions complement each other, and many patients benefit from combined care — which is why we offer all three under one roof.

Do you offer direct billing for motor vehicle accident (MVA) injuries?

Yes. Chiropractic care is covered under Ontario's Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) if you've been injured in a motor vehicle accident. We handle all required forms, approvals, and direct billing to your auto insurer.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows movement is ideal. Athletic wear, stretchy pants, and a t-shirt work well. We provide gowns if needed for specific assessments.

Do I need x-rays before treatment?

Not usually. We only order x-rays or other imaging when there is a specific clinical reason — such as suspected fracture, progressive neurological symptoms, or a history of significant trauma. Routine x-ray screening is not supported by current clinical guidelines and we don't do it.

Can chiropractic help with headaches and migraines?

Yes. Research supports chiropractic care as an effective intervention for tension-type and cervicogenic headaches, and many migraine sufferers also experience meaningful improvement. Treatment typically combines spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, postural work, and trigger identification.

Do you accept WSIB claims?

Yes. We are registered with WSIB and treat workers injured on the job. Approved claims are billed directly to WSIB with no out-of-pocket cost to you.

How do I book my first appointment?

You can book online through our website in under a minute, call the clinic directly, or send us an email. New patient consultations are typically available within a few days, and same-week appointments are often possible for acute issues.

What are your hours and where are you located?

Our clinic is in Ottawa with free parking and accessible entry. We offer early-morning, evening, and Saturday appointments. Please call us at (613) 324-9141 for the full address, current hours, and directions.
